If you are like me, most of us have come to rely upon a small computer that is kept in your pocket, clipped on your belt, or in your purse. Yes, I’m referring to a cell phone! (Boy, it was crazy attempting to get service connected recently!)
We use our cell phones when we need information about something, when we need help, when we may need directions, or when we just want to talk to someone. By the way, in order to contact me, you have to know my number, it is 731-345-5868. You can’t just call any random number; it has to be the one that is assigned to my phone.
Did you know God wants us to call Him? He even gave us His number. Romans 10:12-13 says, “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him; 13 for “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” God’s number is “J-E-S-U-S.”
Romans 10:9-10 tells us how to call on Jesus, “that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; 10 for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
Friends, we can’t just call any ole’ number and reach God! “Jesus said…, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me’” (John 14:6). There is no other way to call on God except through Jesus!” (John 14:6).
We can have a phone and we can know someone’s number, but until we actually dial the number, we can never reach Him! He is there anytime, anywhere, and for anyone!
