Verse: 1 Chronicles 16:23-24

Sing to the Lord, all the earth!

Tell of his salvation from day to day.

Declare his glory among the nations,

his marvelous works among all the peoples!

Devotional Thoughts:

Some time ago I read a book that talked about the importance of missions and evangelism. In it, the author shared a story about how there was time when he was unsure about a mission trip to another country. He wanted to go, but it was going to cost a couple thousand dollars. He wondered if, instead of spending the money so he could go, he might should just send that money to the people already doing ministry work over there. Wouldn’t that be more beneficial anyway? Wouldn’t that be more helpful?

Finally, he decided that he would go himself. During that trip, one of the locals came up to him and thanked him for coming. The local said that they have many people send money to them, and they’re thankful for that. But, the locals can tell who really cares for them, who really loves them and wants the best for them, by who makes it a point to come to them themselves.

Our youth group is leaving for Birmingham this Sunday.

But we’re not necessarily being sent to a place, we’re being sent to a people.

And I hope that the people we talk with and help on this trip leave knowing that Jesus loves and cares for them, and so does the First Baptist Church in Bells.

Points to Ponder:

Do you look for opportunities to share the Gospel? Do you look for opportunities to show the love of Christ for others?

The verse says, “Tell of his salvation from day to day…his marvelous works among all the peoples!” As believers, we’ve all been sent. We are all ambassadors for Christ. We all are ambassadors for the Gospel, or for the “message of reconciliation,” as Paul says.

Who around you needs to know that the Lord loves and cares for them, and that you care for them too?

Blessings,

Zac
