It’s coming!  It’s coming!!  The wedding, this thing that has been chasing us for the past year, is almost here.  Less than two weeks away now.  Wow, I better sit down!  I’ve joked about being in “Daddy Denial” but it’s real and it’s happening whether I believe it or not.

Marriage is a beautiful thing.  It really is!  I’m all for it.  Yes, even for my daughters.  I want them to have as beautiful and love-filled a marriage as DaLee and I have or even better!  We express this wonderful thing called love best through marriage, a commitment of a man and a woman to each other.  Being married is one of the best things that ever happened to me.  Praise the Lord He brought me DaLee to both nurture and challenge me to grow spiritually and emotionally.

Marriage – love, commitment, and devotion – what better symbol could God use to describe His relationship with the church.  We are His Bride, waiting for Him to call us out and be taken to live with Him forever.  Our wedding traditions may be different than they were in Bible times, but that anticipation and excitement are the same.  It doesn’t matter if the groom is waiting at the end of the aisle or coming to take us away in a chariot, the bride is prepped and waiting.

In similar fashion, we’ve got to be prepped and ready.  Salvation is not just a ticket for a future journey.  It is also the preparation.  While we live on this earth, we are getting ourselves ready to spend eternity in heaven with Jesus.  He is ready, just waiting for God the Father to say, “Okay Son, go bring them home!”  I want to be ready.  I want our church to be ready.  I want my family and friends to be ready.  Are you?

I’ve got some more wedding prep to do so until our next togethering,

love ya,

Bret
