I was driving the van the other day using the cruise control. I passed a sign showing a change in the speed limit, so I pushed the button on the steering wheel. The van kept right on moving. I pushed the button again, but the van kept right on moving! I pushed it again, and again, but the van kept right on moving. It never slowed down. About that time I realized the volume on the radio was getting lower and lower. I was pushing the volume button instead of the cruise control button! Once I got the van slowed down, I almost wrecked from laughing so hard!!
I was pushing that button, sincerely pushing that button, but it was not the right button. It was a nice button, too. It was smooth and conveniently located but no matter what I did to that button, it would never slow the van down. There are a lot of folks in this world that are sincerely believing in a lot of different things, but they are the wrong buttons. Astrology, nature worship, wealth, and so on are the wrong buttons if you want to go to heaven. Jesus told us that He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. Notice the emphasis? THE, as in the only. Jesus added that “no one comes to the Father but by (or through) Me.” Does that leave any doubt? No one. Nada. Zip. Zilch. No one. No matter how sincerely you believe in… whatever, if it’s not Jesus, it’s not the right button. I’m ever looking for a shortcut but there’s not one to heaven. Google maps gives you two or three alternate routes but there aren’t any on the way to heaven. Jesus is the only way! Let’s tell someone about Him today – but you may have to turn the radio down!
