Please allow me to take a point of personal privilege (one of the few items of parliamentary procedure I know or have heard of. At least, I think it is!) I want to say a huge Thank You to Bretney, Dory, and my Mom (and Dad, too!) for planning and hosting a wonderful reception in honor of our 25th wedding anniversary. You did a great job and we had a blast!
Toward the end of our wedding ceremony, we turned around to face the congregation. If you listen closely to the video, you can hear me tell DaLee, “Look at all the love!” as I scanned the gathered crowd. I felt the same way Sunday afternoon. The room was filled with loving friends who came to help us celebrate. That’s You! Thank you so much for being there, your kind words and generous gifts, and enjoying the reminiscing!
As great a party as we had – including cake and punch!! – the Bible tells us that there is wonderful rejoicing in heaven every time a person gives their heart and life to Jesus. Now surely, around the globe, we should average at least one salvation a day. That means there is a party in heaven at least once a day! I’m glad heaven is where I’m headed because that sounds like the kind of place I want to be! Think of the “whooping and hollering” that goes on during a revival service or Billy Graham crusade! Wow!
You came to our party because you were invited. What about the party in heaven? We must do our part. “How can people call on him if they have not believed in him? How can they believe in him if they have not heard his message? How can they hear if no one tells the Good News?” (Rom 10:14GNV) Let’s keep on sending out those invitations! I don’t know if there’ll be cake and punch in heaven but either way, it’s going to be a great party!
Until our next togethering,
love ya,
Bret
