So, we got the dresses.  We got the shoes.  The big day came.  Kendle came over and did the girls’ hair.  Hayes came and did their makeup.  The boys came and all kinds of pictures were taken.  After some pizza, they left for the formal.  Technology can be fun and helpful.  Even though we went out with some friends, we got to see pictures (and commentary!) in real time.  Chatting and passing the time until they got home, we stayed up (too) late to get the scoop on the evening.  Everyone had a fun time and the 2016 Winter Formal is now a fond memory.

Thinking back over all the preparations we did to get ready for the girls’ Formal brings back all kinds of memories.  My high school prom is a foggy blur.  No, I didn’t do anything wrong but it was a long time ago (there, I said it!) and rather nondescript.  (No offense to my date but we were just friends before and after that night.)

Now my (our!) wedding on the other hand!  I wanted to be involved in it and I think DaLee wanted me to be as well.  Being miles apart, we called and sent letters (snail mail!) back and forth about flowers, china patterns, and song selections.  We both had a blast getting ready for our big day.

We are getting ready – and being prepared – for another big day.  All God brings us through is getting us ready for the day we meet Jesus in heaven.  The good times and the bad times are teaching and training us for that wonderful day we see Him face to face.  Once we commit our lives to Him, the rest of our time is spent in preparation.  Along with that, we are to be telling others so they can come with us.  We may or may not get a corsage but eternity will be incredible!

Until our next togethering,
love ya, Bret.
