We finished out another great Vacation Bible School.  Around 50 kids heard about how much God loves them through Bible studies, games, music, and even snacks.  This is Kingdom work and it is wonderful!  The flip side of it is that about the same number of FBC members volunteered to make VBS happen.  Did it mess up their regular schedule?  Yes.  Did they have to go out of their way? Yes.  Was it hard to come five nights in a row?  Yes.  Was it worth it?  Well, when Brother Wayne talked about Jesus and salvation, 9 children raised their hands in response!  So, was it worth it?  Absolutely!!  Last night at business meeting, we voted to consider extending a call to Zac as our full time Student Pastor.  Afterwards, the folks at the cake auction anted up the base amount to send our youth on a mission trip.  Sure, they got some great cakes but at the end of the fun and sweets, more Kingdom work will be done as we partnered with our students by financing their trip.

This is the church at work.  The church is a lot of things to a lot of people and how it responds to you often depends on where you are at the moment.  If you’re hurting, the church is a place of comfort and healing.  If you’re searching, the church is a place of answers.  If you’re lonely, the church is a place of togetherness.  Bottom line though, the church is the body of Christ.  We need each other to be a healthy, properly functioning, cohesive organism.  We also all have to do our part.  We’re still not sure what the appendix does but I can tell you from experience if it gets infected, it is painful!

I am so glad (and proud!) to be a part of the Body of Christ at First Baptist.  I am grateful for the opportunity to serve you and to serve alongside you.

Until our next togethering,

love ya,

Bret
