I worked my way through last week but by Friday afternoon I was almost giddy. I was so excited and ready for Fall break it was all I could do to contain myself. By the end of the day, my students could have done almost anything and gotten away with it – just don’t tell them that! Our Assistant Principal said it best when he came over the intercom at the end of the day. “Students, be careful on your way out as the teachers may run over you on their way out of the building.” No matter how many times we say it, kids just don’t understand that the teachers look forward to school breaks just as much or more than they do!
What do you look forward to? A birthday? Well, yeah – for the celebration at least – and the cake!! Christmas? Without a doubt! A party or other celebration? Sure! Hey, I grew up Baptist: bring a casserole and you’ve got a fellowship, which is Baptist for party. Of course, we’re all looking forward to heaven. What could be better than living with Jesus forever in a perfect place?! But what about in the mean time? Do you look forward to our weekly get-togethers? Is church a privilege to enjoy or just another obligation to fulfill? Going to church and being with my Christian brothers and sisters is usually the highlight of my week. I look forward to it. I prepare for it. I anticipate it. I can’t wait to get there. I enjoy it!
I hope it’s the same for you. Sure, there are times when schedules and life weigh us down and wear us out and we’d just as soon stay in bed. However, it’s times like that when we need our togethering most of all! And remember, church is the preparation and rehearsal for our eternity in heaven. Let’s get in all the practice we can!
The Choir did a fantastic job yesterday! Thanks for the blessing!
love ya, Bret.
