Since it’s summer, I’ve taken care of several medical appointments that I kept putting off during the school year. One was a recheck on my hearing. Over the past several years I’ve lost some hearing in my right ear. A couple of years ago I had a hearing test that confirmed it. This summer, when I came across a months old card about a check up, I figured I should go. In answering the questionnaire in the office, I mentioned that I have occasional dizzy spells. RED FLAG! I had to answer a whole new questionnaire just about dizziness. The doctor decided on an MRI to rule out the worst case scenario. The test came out clean, praise the Lord, which means I’m just getting hard of hearing. Oh well.
The doctor did confirm that I have a brain in there for those family and friends who had wondered! Now that that’s confirmed, I guess I’m responsible to use it. In spite of the noise and the very small tube you’re in, the MRI is an incredible test. With it, the doctor can look inside your body; much like an x-ray but with much more detail.
Even more incredible, at least from a human stand point, is that God can do the same thing and He doesn’t need an MRI machine. He constantly looks at our hearts to see how they’re doing. Are they full of His love like they should be? Are they full of gratitude for all that He does and has done for us? Are they full of compassion for the hurting and the lost all around us? Are they full of mercy for those in difficult situations? Are they full of His grace for those who have stumbled? Sometimes a test is required to make sure our hearts are working like they should or a little jolt is needed to get it back in rhythm with His. Like most other parts of our body, exercising our heart is the best treatment! Spend some time in prayer and listen to the Great Physician!
Until our next togethering,
love ya,
Bret
