By the time you read this, DaLee and I should be in Ohio visiting with her Mother. Most folks head South for Spring Break but we went North. Well, when you marry a Yankee it comes with the territory. I’m teasing, Ohio has a lot of great stuff – not to mention DaLee’s family!!
Preparing for a trip can be pretty funny at our house. Sometimes we are ultra-organized. We get the suitcase out a week in advance and start planning out wardrobe possibilities. Other times, we’re still cramming things in as the clock strikes midnight! Of course, our mode of transportation affects this greatly. We have to be very conscious of amount – and weight! – when we are flying. If we’re driving though, that’s a whole other story! One reason we keep our minivan is for travelling. It’s nice and comfortable and has lots of room! We’ll start packing and then almost go crazy. “We’ve got some extra room so we could bring….” Going to the beach we included beach towels and blowup rafts for everyone plus a “boogie board.” Every day there was a shirt for the beach plus one to change into when we cleaned up. Then the ridiculous kicks in. “I’ve been wanting to read this 16-volume history of the Middle Ages; I think I’ll take it.” “We might want to make some expresso, so let’s take the Cappuccino machine!”
As we look at our lives and then to the future, the biggest unknown is also the biggest surety. Jesus is coming back to take us to heaven, that’s for sure. It’s just the when that we don’t know. So, we’ve got to be ready at all times, much like a woman on the verge of having a baby! We can’t wait till the night before to do or say or take care of whatever because we don’t know when it will be. When Jesus comes back for us His children, we’ll be on the express flight!
Get your ticket ready!
Until our next togethering,
love ya,
Bret
