Our Sunday at Bells First Baptist Church was very worshipful. Our ladies trio composed of Jan Outlaw, Hollie Watkins, and Judith Ann Cartwright blessed us with their beautiful singing of “Something About That Name”. I’m sure it blessed your heart as it did mine!
Our business meeting Sunday evening was productive and peaceful! (That’s not always true in some churches!) Our Stewardship Committee will be prayerfully preparing our 2019 budget. Please do two things: 1) Pray for the members of this committee that they will seek God’s will in their recommendations to the Body; and, 2) pray about your commitment to giving faithfully to Christ throughout the next year.
It is difficult to plan ministry when finances become an obstacle. The giving patterns of a church will affect almost everything we do in carrying out ministry. This has not been an issue during this past year and it should not in the future. If you are not at least tithing, pray about your obedience to the Lord’s command to tithe.
This month it has been my privilege to serve with you for one year. I met with your Search Committee late November and the last Wednesday of the month, we began serving together. I have been immensely blessed to be here.
This Sunday morning, we will continue our Series on Jesus. This has been challenging to me and, I hope, a blessing to you!
Sunday at 5 p.m., an Ordination Council will convene with Bro. Zac Hannaford to consider his ordination request of this Church. After testimony, questioning, and upon recommendation of the Council, the Ordination Service will take place at 6 p.m. Many churches never have this privilege or responsibility to ordain a minister. Please prayerfully attend at 6. If you are one of our ordained men, please meet at 5 p.m.
It’s the morning after, most of the votes have been counted, and some are happy, some are sad, but very little has actually changed. One chamber of Congress can do little without the other. My hope for our nation is that we do not have continual impasses on good legislation. The political pride of partisanism; stopping the other guys; is not the way to govern, We need to pray that our leaders look unto God.
I remain grateful to serve with you!
Bro. Wayne
