This is a big week for me – my birthday at the front and my wedding anniversary at the end.  Yes, I did that on purpose.  I didn’t want to share my birthday, I mean, my anniversary and my birthday have my attention divided.  I told DaLee I wanted some space between them so each would have its own time.  Of course, my birthday is special because, hey, it’s me!  (You can laugh now!)  Our anniversary though, that’s another thing.

Many of you have heard our love story.  We met through my friend who was her patient and started with a blind date.  Things went well and after a while, we started talking “seriously.”  It scared the stew out of both of us and we (DaLee) put on the brakes.  The thing was, no matter what we might have said, we couldn’t let go.  We stayed “just friends” for almost seven years.  Then something finally clicked and we got back together.  God blessed me with a wonderful wife, supporter, helper, and friend.  And He has blessed us for now – 25 years!! The thing is, God was the author of our love story.  He put us together through my friend from church.  God put the hesitation in our spirits because He knew what we now know – that we weren’t ready for the level of commitment we needed.  Honestly, we weren’t mature enough.

God is the author of our love story.  We do our best to seek His guidance over our lives.  We come together in Him.  We parent in Him.  We do our jobs in and through Him.  He is the meaning and purpose in our lives.

God will be the author of our love story.  We are now facing a new chapter in our lives.  Dory has started college and will be in and out of the house for the next four years.  Bretney is months, weeks (!) away from getting married.  So yes, we’re putting the last few twigs in our about to be empty nest.  What is to come, what will be, where we will go is up to Him.  Our prayer is to be open and sensitive to His leading – all the way till He brings us home.

So, who is writing your story?  I hope its God.

Until our next togethering,

love ya,

Bret

P.S. – Love ya D!
