“How Sweet It Is to be Loved By You!” Nice song recorded by at least 13 musicians from the first, Marvin Gaye in 1964 to other individuals or groups to 2015. Most of us have heard this at one time or another, but the title of the song is a simple way to recognize that we are beloved of God. It really is sweet to be loved by Him!
My salvation at 10 years of age, (and how wonderful it was and continues to be!!!), did not take away all the following temptations that came from so many different sources. However, it assured me that the first forgiveness that I experienced was cemented by the Lord’s promise, ‘I will never leave you, nor forsake you!’
It is God’s abiding presence in my life that has helped me get up each time I have failed or fallen out of His will or His way.
My growth into manhood is as each of your experiences. It has been and continues to be a process. This process has been helped by making many choices, but in particular, the choice to be faithful in Bible study, the choice to worship my Lord when I have opportunity, the choice to read things which will support my faith, the choice to be around people of like mind, the choice to provide leadership to my family in as many ways as I am able, the choice to be a person of prayer, the choice to affiliate my life with groups which will honor Christ.
There are far more than these as many of you have already named some of your own which are not listed above. We really do make the choices which determine the kind of person we will be. Further, our choices affect many around us; and, sometimes for generations to come!
There will be a Church until Jesus comes again. Perhaps even a church in Bells until then! What it will look like 50 years in the future, (if Jesus tarries), is largely up to us!
Let’s make the choices which reflect to the world ‘How sweet it is to be loved by Him.’ Perhaps they will want to be loved by Him as well!!!
