Ok, one more word from vacation and then I’ll try not to mention it for a while. Many of you have been to the beach while others prefer the mountains. Some like quiet, rural retreats while others like the hustle and bustle of a big city. Each has its own unique charm and appeal. I’ve seen the vast panorama from the top of the arch in St. Louis and I’ve seen choppy waters off the coast of Maine. I’ve climbed boulders in the Rocky Mountains and hiked wooded trails in the Smokies.
As I walked along the white sandy beach I filled my pockets with a variety of sea shells in different shapes, sizes, and colorations. I looked out at the ocean and saw the waters change from a soft, pale blue to a medium turquoise and then to a dark, midnight blue. Several different sizes and types of fish swam around my feet as we played in the water. The waves never stopped rolling in and out, in and out. I took in all the beauty that was there and added memories of other beautiful places and it hit me once again. There is no way that all of this is some sort of cosmic, chance happening. The beauty, the delicacy, the intricate balance of nature shouts there is a God, proclaims there is a God, undeniably testifies that there is a God.
As man works to miniaturize electronics so I can now wear my cell phone on my wrist, God was already there when He spoke creation into existence, creating atoms and then knitting them together to make rocks, sand, and oceans. He created the bits and pieces inside cells to make the birds, other animals, you and me. How can anyone deny the existence of God? “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” (Romans 1:20 NIV)
So, enjoy your time off, enjoy creation, but most of all, enjoy the God that made it all!
Until our next togethering,
love ya,
Bret
