After all kinds of planning, scheduling, and RE-scheduling, we are taking a family vacation.  Actually, it’s not just us four but my Mom and Dad and two brothers (with families!) convened in Florida near our oldest brother so the “whole clan” can be together.  We just started a week of sun, sand, and silliness.  As much as I love my life, my family, and my church family, I was ready for some time away.  DaLee says she can tell because I get giddy and even a little wacky the closer we get to the time to leave.

Before we left, I attended the funeral of Martha, a dear, sweet lady who had a quick smile and an infectious laugh.  She was a wonderful Christian who taught children’s Sunday school classes for years.  She was quite a character, in the best sense of the word.  She had such a joyful spirit that her daughter requested we attend her funeral wearing bright colors in her honor!  However, as much as she loved life, her family, and her church, I am confident that she was ready and prepared to go to heaven and meet Jesus her Savior.

So, what are you ready for?  Many parents are ready for school to start again.  Many business people are ready for the next big sale or project or promotion.  With all this severe weather and rain, many are ready for fairer weather.  Hot blooded people are ready for cooler temps.  Most importantly, are you ready to face eternity like Martha was?  Jesus was (is) her Savior and she was ready to meet Him.  Are you ready to meet Him?  Anybody who says there’s nothing but black when you die will be surprised to find out otherwise when their time comes!  If you are ready, make sure your loved ones and friends are just as ready.  Introducing them to Jesus is the best thing you could ever do for them.

Until our next togethering,

love ya,

Bret
