My natural inclination was to assume that there are just about as many men as there are women in the world. A quick internet search actually confirmed it. Give or take a percentage point, the men to women ratio is just about even. God started out with Adam and Eve. Then He brought two of each kind of animal (male and female) on board the ark when He sent the flood.
There are many situations to contradict this though. When I was in college at Union, the story was that the girls outnumbered the boys about 2 to 1. I didn’t however see a big jump in my dating life! Seminary was just the opposite. There is a greater number of men than women. Rumor has it that some ladies go there for their “MRS” degree. Over the past couple of decades, we’ve seen girls break into the traditionally male sports. We even had two girls go out for the football team at my school.
Yes, God made men and women different – Praise the Lord! The important thing is that we each have a role to play. We may have differing tasks, but both are important. As we celebrated Father’s Day I was reminded about the important job we have as fathers – and men in general. Every child needs a father or father figure. I’m sure you’re familiar with the stats that most men in prison had an absentee father. How different would our society and world be if men had maintained and fulfilled their God-given role as Fathers? As always, I am thankful for my Dad and other men who influenced my life. I am a better man, a better father, a better Christian because of you. God bless you – real good!
Until our next togethering,
love ya,
Bret
