Each and every day, I am amazed with God. Every morning you wake up, you are only able to do so by the power of God. Being able to read, write, talk, go to work, have a family, these are all just a few gifts that God has given us, and to Him be the glory for that. There are times where I forget, because of my stubbornness, that I do not deserve any of the gifts I have been given. In fact, I in no way, shape, or form deserve anything. All that I have is a gift from God.
The greatest gift that I have, but in no way deserve, is salvation. In Ephesians 2:3-6, Paul says, concerning Christians that…
“…we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ- by grace you have been saved- and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
We Christians, were one time dead in our trespasses, living in the passions of our sinful, depraved flesh. The only thing we deserved was death. However, God, who is rich in mercy (keeping from us what we deserve) showed us grace (giving what we do not deserve) through Jesus Christ. We are made alive, no longer dead in sin, no longer enslaved to sin. We have the opportunity and the ability to serve God for all that He has done for us.
I encourage you to remind yourself of the Gospel daily. What you have received from God is something you do not, in the least bit, deserve. Thank God for the gifts of mercy and grace that you receive daily, and live your life for God. To God alone be the glory.
