What a great week in our revival. We heard great sermons and lots of terrific music. If you’re like me though, after four straight days of “extras” in my schedule, I bet you’re tired. Added to that, I had bus duty the week before and then this past Thursday I had a faculty meeting, a dentist appointment, and concession stand duty at the football game. (Sarcasm alert!) I really hated that the football game got rained out!
We all live very full lives. Dennis and Louise had a house full of company for a week. Other folks continued to work full time and attend the meetings at night. Even with everything in the mix, I think we can say we are a “good” tired. A good tired comes from spending your energies on good things and things you enjoy. Spend a few hours in drudgery and you’ll be just plain ole tired. Spending time with the Lord and working for His Kingdom will make you tired but you’ll have a sense of enjoyment and satisfaction that makes the tired worth it.
This Saturday will be another one of those days. Probably very few people want to spend their Saturday moving chairs, washing cars, flipping burgers, and mowing yards – for other people – but we’ll do it for the Lord. Our Inasmuch outreach will be a long and tiring day but we’ll get a good tired out of it. Like the name reminds us, “in as much as you’ve done it to the least of these, you’ve done it to Me.” We will be serving and working for the Lord. Kingdom work is always worth the time and energy we spend.
If I don’t see you before, I’ll see you Saturday morning with a smile, a song, and a desire to serve the Lord.
love ya, Bret.
